Do not settle!
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
In this passage, Paul is talking about how we should not settle for the ordinary, but should strive for the best that God has to offer. He uses the analogy of food to make his point. He says that we should not be satisfied with “cheese and crackers” when there is so much more available to us.
What does Paul mean by “cheese and crackers”? He is not talking about literal cheese and crackers, of course. He is talking about the ordinary, mundane things in life. The things that we settle for because they are easy or convenient. The things that we don’t think we deserve or can’t have.
But Paul is saying that we should not settle for these things. We should not be content with mediocrity. We should strive for the best that God has to offer.
What does this mean for us in practical terms? It means that we should not be afraid to dream big. We should not be afraid to reach for the stars. We should not settle for the ordinary when we can have the extraordinary.
It also means that we should not be afraid to take risks. We should not be afraid to step outside of our comfort zone. We should not settle for the familiar when we can experience something new and exciting.
Of course, there is no guarantee that we will always succeed. But that’s okay. The important thing is that we don’t give up. We keep striving for the best that God has to offer, even when things get tough.
I know that this is not always easy. There will be times when we want to give up. There will be times when we feel like we can’t do it. But that’s when we need to remember who we are. We are children of God. And He has promised to never leave us or forsake us.
So let’s not settle for cheese and crackers. Let’s strive for the best that God has to offer. Let’s dream big and reach for the stars. Let’s not be afraid to take risks and step outside of our comfort zone. Let’s keep striving for the extraordinary, even when things get tough.
Because we know that with God, all things are possible.
- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
- “If you can believe, all things are possible.” (Mark 9:23)
- “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
- “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Do not settle for mediocrity, but strive for the best that God has to offer.
